Suffering Builds Character

"No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God ... and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father in heaven."
-Orson F. Whitney

I'll be the first to admit it's incredibly hard to remember that Everything is for our benefit

Even if we don't understand why something is happening or why things are the way they are. They are for your benefit in the long run.

Suffering builds your character,

Purifies your heart

Expands your soul

Like Elder Holland once said, we must experience but a small portion of what our Savior went through, we must walk at least a step or two towards the summit of Calvary, in order to know something of this price that has been paid.

I bear testimony that Jesus Christ is the light, the life, and the way. And that the only way to eternity is through him. How grateful I am to my Savior for taking upon him more than I will ever be able to comprehend in this life.
